Founded in 2003 by Brett, Water by Nature Tasmania specialises in organizing professionally guided wilderness whitewater rafting expeditions lasting from 5 to 10 days. These remarkable journeys take participants through the exhilarating rapids and scenic stretches of the iconic Franklin River in South West Tasmania.
Conveniently based in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, our team at Water by Nature Tasmania consists of passionate professionals who possess an immense love for the Franklin River. Our guides are handpicked for their exceptional skills in wilderness whitewater rafting, culinary arts, first aid expertise, and interpretation abilities. Among them, Brett, our senior guide, has been orchestrating whitewater rafting expeditions on the Franklin River since 1987, previously with Wildtrek and Peregrine, and from 2003 onward with Water By Nature Tasmania. Brett continues to approach each trip with great enthusiasm and dedication.

Our small group tours stand out for their flexibility – whether it’s regarding departure dates and times, trip duration, dietary preferences or fitness considerations. We aim to run the easiest possible trip under the prevailing weather and river levels and provide:
– guides with many seasons of Franklin River rafting experience
– the largest, safest and most comfortable rafts on the river
– top-notch rafting equipment
– extra warm 5mm steamer wetsuits (long arms and legs)
– very comfortable sleeping system – 10 cm thick air mat with pillow and insulation and tents as required
– the option to paddle our inflatable kayaks on some sections of the river (river level and skill dependant)
– locally sourced (organic where possible) culinary delights
